Japan Study Planning

Interview & Pre-Departure

Preparation should help you explain your own plans clearly. Soyogi combines Japanese learning with practical study-plan discussions so you can approach school conversations and your move to Japan with better organisation.

Practise your own study story

Use facts from your actual education, language learning and intended course. Explain why the programme fits your next step and how it will be funded. Practice is for clarity and confidence, not for inventing an ideal profile. School and authority interview formats can differ; do not assume that every student follows an identical interview sequence.

  • Why this course, institution and study destination?
  • What have you been doing since your previous qualification?
  • Who will fund the studies and what is the plan after the course?

Build practical Japanese communication

Prepare a simple introduction at your actual ability level. Practise listening to a question, asking for clarification and responding naturally. Memorised advanced answers can be unhelpful if you cannot understand the follow-up question. Your learning plan should continue after an interview, with vocabulary useful for study and everyday life.

  • Practise names, dates, numbers and your education history.
  • Learn how to ask someone to repeat a question politely.
  • Review your own forms so spoken answers remain consistent with the file.

Check arrangements before departure

After the relevant outcomes are confirmed, review travel and arrival arrangements with the school. Keep emergency contacts and copies of important records accessible. Confirm the accommodation address, arrival instructions and payment arrangements directly; do not assume that an advertised package automatically includes a flight, housing or employment.

  • Check passport, visa and school arrival instructions.
  • Confirm accommodation, airport transfer options and first-day contact details.
  • Plan access to money, communication and essential personal items.
  • Keep original documents safe and separate from everyday spending items.

Prepare for study life, not a job guarantee

Ask the school about attendance expectations, orientation and whom to contact if plans change. Check the official conditions applying to your status before undertaking work. Part-time work, future placement and future earnings are not guaranteed outcomes of a course or assistance service. Build a budget and study routine that do not depend on such promises.

  • Know how to contact the school during and outside normal office hours.
  • Keep a personal list of arrival tasks and questions.
  • Review official study and residence guidance rather than relying only on social-media tips.

Questions About Interview & Pre-Departure

Will I receive a script to memorise?

The focus should be truthful, consistent answers in your own words. Do not use invented answers or claim a Japanese level you do not have.

Does interview preparation guarantee a visa?

No. Practice can help communication and organisation, but the receiving school and Japanese authorities make their own decisions.

Are flights, accommodation or jobs included?

Do not assume inclusion. Confirm each service, cost and responsible organisation in writing before booking or paying.

Check the Current Official Guidance

Reviewed 20 October 2026. Requirements and procedures can change. Confirm the checklist and submission process for your application with the receiving school and responsible Japanese mission.
